Meet Author J. A. Johnson – A New Release, a Great Conversation, and Why I Think You Should Check Out Gem of the Sea

A quick introduction to J. A. Johnson, her new book, and the full interview we filmed together.

Author J. A. Johnson

I’m so happy to use my little corner of the internet today to celebrate my darling friend J. A. Johnson and her new release, Gem of the Sea.

We recently sat down together over a couple of cocktails for a long conversation about the book, her process, the story behind it, and the kinds of things readers don’t usually get to hear unless they happen to catch two authors chatting at just the right moment.

Since I firmly believe readers deserve more delight and indie authors deserve all the love we can muster, I wanted to make that conversation super easy to find!

If you’re new to J. A.’s work, here are a few reasons I think you should have her on your radar:

01. She loves to dig deep into the reality of what makes love stories work. She’s not afraid to be honest about the fact that finding your soul mate is one thing, while earning your HEA is another!

02. Gem of the Sea is perfect for fans of:

✨A Court of Thorns and Roses – forbidden romance & trials

✨Daughter of the Pirate King – sword fighting

✨To Kill a Kingdom – ocean mythology & impossible choices

✨A Touch of Darkness – Greek gods & mortal desires

03. It’s packed with loads of yummy tropes:

✨ Gods & Mortals

✨ Forbidden Love

✨ Elemental Magic

✨ Arranged Marriage

✨ Sword Fighting

✨ Prophecy & Chosen One

✨ Pirates & Adventure

✨ Hidden Identity

She’s also got a YA story, Popstars in the Backyard, for YA and NA readers. That one isn’t spicy – it’s written purely for younger readers (think high school or maybe early college).

I’ll be sharing a few teaser clips from our conversation throughout the day across social media, and the full interview will be embedded/linked here once it’s published:

You can follow her here:

And you can grab Gem of the Sea on Amazon

Please go give her some love. Release days are a weird mix of wildly thrilling and mildly terrifying, and it means the world to authors when readers show up!
